The Lymph Drainage Facial

theskineffectsc

Are you familiar with the many benefits of manual lymph drainage? Do you know what its purpose is and what to expect during this kind of treatment?

First a little background on how I came to know and love this type of massage! I had my first lymphatic drainage massage 14 years ago after my 4th pregnancy! I had a very rare experience while being pregnant with my 4th kiddo. My immune system attacked my nerves and I lost all reflexes, ability to use my legs, weak arm muscles, unbearable tingling in my face and pain in my back. Needless to say, I was a giant question mark to doctors of all fields and specialties. No one could figure out the why or the answer to how, or if I would recover. I had Steele in late December followed by a number of tests that still left me with little to no clarity on why this had happened. Through this experience I became my own advocate for my health and did endless amounts of research. I fell in love with Ayurvedic medicine, an ancient Indian holistic approach to physical and mental health. I was also introduced to lymphatic massage. My angel of a massage therapist would come to my house and work on me with 3 kids running around us and a newborn crying in the background. At the time, I was just starting to get my strength back and was learning to walk again...CRAZY!! With each treatment I was feeling more grounded, clear minded, stronger and overall healthier. As I learned more about the lymph system and the role it plays in filtering out toxins from our tissues, it made perfect sense the improvements I was noticing. I have continued to receive these massages for the last 14 years and I believe they have completely changed my immune function for the better! I'm happy to say, I made a full recovery and am so thankful for all of the wellness knowledge I gained through my journey. As an esthetician, I knew I wanted to be able to offer this treatment to my clients so that they can experience the many benefits of lymph massage. I am now certified to do lymph drainage on the face, head, neck, chest, arms and hands!!

So what are the benefits of lymph massage?? Here are just some!

- Increases circulation

-Helps clear blockages in our lymph system so that your body can properly filter toxins

-Can reduce puffiness from fluid buildup

-Improves immune function

-Can help reduce sinus pressure

-Headache relief

-May help to reduce breakouts

-Increases collagen production

-Can help reduce fine lines, wrinkles and puffy eyes

From my own experience, I like to forewarn my clients that this is not a "fluffy" massage. It can be a bit uncomfortable at times because we are breaking down dense tissue that holds onto toxins. Many clients will visually see drainage on the towel beneath them. This is a good thing! The purpose is to encourage the body to let go of stagnant lymph fluid and therefore, release toxin buildup. My approach is to incorporate this upper body massage with all of the products and routine of a great facial. Your skin will benefit immensely!! If you still have questions, please ask away;) Xx-Amy
